# 🔗  Supported URLs

iKCScripts Boombox supports music URLs compatible with its playback system.

Paste a supported URL directly into the Boombox player to play it immediately, add it to the Queue, or save it to a Playlist.

***

### ▶️ YouTube

YouTube URLs are supported.

You can use standard YouTube video links such as:

```
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID
```

Short YouTube links are also supported:

```
https://youtu.be/VIDEO_ID
```

When available, the Boombox can retrieve and display information such as:

* Song or video title
* Thumbnail
* Playback information

{% hint style="success" %}
For most users, YouTube is the easiest way to play music through the Boombox.
{% endhint %}

***

### 🎵 Direct Audio URLs

Compatible direct-audio URLs can also be used.

A direct-audio URL points directly to a playable audio source rather than to a normal website containing an audio player.

Compatibility depends on the remote server and the audio source being accessible to the playback system.

{% hint style="info" %}
A website containing an audio player is not automatically a direct-audio URL. The URL itself must provide a compatible playable source.
{% endhint %}

***

### 🟢 Spotify

Spotify page URLs are **not supported as direct playback sources**.

For example, links to:

* Spotify tracks
* Spotify albums
* Spotify playlists

cannot be played directly through the Boombox.

Spotify links point to Spotify content pages rather than providing the direct audio source required by the playback system.

{% hint style="warning" %}
If the music you want is available on both Spotify and YouTube, use the supported YouTube URL instead.
{% endhint %}

### 📋 Pasting a URL

Copy the supported music URL you want to use.

Open the Boombox and click inside the URL field.

Then press:

```
Ctrl + V
```

The URL will appear in the field.

You can then choose:

* **Play Now**
* **Add to Queue**
* **Add to Playlist**

Use the **X** beside the URL field if you want to clear the current entry.

***

### ▶️ Play Now

Select **Play Now** to immediately start the entered URL on the currently selected Boombox.

If music is already playing, the new selection becomes the active playback.

***

### 📋 Add to Queue

Select **Add to Queue** when you want to save the entered music for upcoming playback instead of immediately replacing the current song.

For more information, see:

→ **📋** [**Queue**](/docs/boombox/features/queue.md)

***

### 🎶 Add to Playlist

Select **Add to Playlist** to save the music inside one of your personal Playlists.

This allows you to keep music for future sessions without adding it to the current Queue.

For more information, see:

→ **🎶** [**Playlists**](/docs/boombox/features/playlists.md)

### ❌ URL Does Not Play

If a URL does not work, first try another supported URL.

Check that:

* The URL was copied completely
* The content is still available
* The content is publicly accessible
* The source is supported
* xSound is running correctly
* Other supported URLs are playing normally

If one URL fails while other URLs work correctly, the problem is likely related to that specific source rather than the Boombox installation.

***

### 🌐 External Source Availability

Music and video content is provided by external services.

Those services can:

* Remove content
* Restrict content
* Change URL behavior
* Change playback availability
* Change how their media is delivered

Because of this, a URL that worked previously may not remain available permanently.

{% hint style="info" %}
Third-party service availability is outside the control of iKCScripts Boombox.
{% endhint %}

### 🔊 Playback Is Positional

Regardless of the supported source being used, playback is attached to the selected physical Boombox.

Nearby citizens hear the synchronized music according to their distance from that Boombox.

For more information, see:

→ **🔊** [**Positional Audio**](/docs/boombox/features/positional-audio.md)
